2022/23

Balderstone is a PLATINUM School!

We are extremely proud to announce that we have been awarded the 'School Games PLATINUM' award for our commitment to the engagement of children in physical activity, the development of competition and school sport across school and into the community. Schools are only eligible for Platinum if they have achieved GOLD for the previous 4 consecutive years. A case study was submitted which stated clearly the impact of the work we have carried out.

Thanks to the school governors, staff, parents, coaches, children  and HRVSSP for your contributions, support and laughter along the way.

SWIMMING

Last academic year, we spent £2,140 of our sports funding to provide additional lessons to children in Years 5 and 6 who had not previously reached the required standards in swimming.  Children attended an intensive 2 week swimming course in September 2022, swimming for an hour every day. Some of these children attended a further 2 week intensive course in December 2022 but this was funded through the school's funds for swimming. In addition to this, a further 7 children in Y5/6 received further lessons in December 2023, through the school's funds for swimming. We are pleased that all the children in Year 6 have now met the required standards for school swimming.
