We are readers

At Balderstone St Leonard's we are proud to say that we truly are lovers of reading and books! Books are central to our whole school curriculum, with our book spine forming the basis of our wider curriculum topics.  Every class has a 40 minute reading workshop daily, where we explore and develop our reading skills and also read independently for at least 25 minutes every day!  As all recent educational research shows, reading for pleasure and reading for at least 15 minutes a day plays a significant role in our future successes as adults..... so ... we read!  Every child takes pride in their own reading journeys with their reading record book and reading journal completed to the highest standard.
