Autumn Term 2023

Y5/6 Girls'  Football - Thursday 28th September at Bowland High School

Team: Abigail (C), Laura, Sawdah, Matilda, Daisy, Aleena, Juwairiyah, Aisha H, Georgia

Our first outing as a new team and our second season competing against other schools. The girls grew in confidence as the evening progressed. We played against Langho St Leonard's, Pendle, St Mary's Langho, Whalley and Gisburn. Matilda had some super saves as goal keeper and Abigail showed her determination and high work rate. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to win any matches, but our margins were a huge improvement on last year and we started the season off with a draw... only one way to go now girls ... keep training hard and you will reap the rewards. Well done for displaying our 6 key sporting values throughout the competition. Thank you to Mrs Cast and all our parent supporters.

Y5/6 Football Kids Cup - Monday 25th September at Roefield 3G, Clitheroe

Team: Bilaal (C); Mohammed Faizan, Laura, Abigail, Zaydene, Abbas, William and Stanley

Y5/6 Netball League -Monday 18th September 2023 at Accrington Academy

A Team: Laura, Georgia, Abigail, Bilaal, Eleanor, Aleena, Matilda

B Team: Aisha, Mohammed Faizan, Sophie, Daisy, Falak, Khadijah, Imaan, Safaa

As this was our first Balderstone netball team in a few years, both the children and staff were nervous yet excited to be able to travel to Accrington to play many of our local schools. This was the first meeting of the schools participating in the league and was a practise and learning opportunity. Both teams made huge progress during the afternoon - learning to play to the rules and become more familiar with court positions and skills. The children all gained huge amounts of confidence, with some stand out improvements from Aisha and Safaa: both girls grew in grit and determination once they gained their confidence and understanding of the game. A special mention to Falak as well, who was not going to let her opponent get away from her, making every effort to chase her around the court! Bilaal was noticed for his speed on court, which also provided some entertainment! The teams had the opportunity to play each other, cheered on by our many parent supporters. They showed great promise for the year ahead, and we are sure that under the continued guidance and support from Miss Aimy, they will have a successful year ahead. Thank you to Miss Aimy and all those who came along to support the teams last Monday.
